Prattville Looking For Little Miss Fountain City?

The Little Miss Fountain City pageants will be held on Saturday, September 29th at Prattville Junior High School and applications are now available for all ages groups by visiting http://www.missfountaincity.com/ and clicking on the Little Pageants link. Divisions are: Tiny Miss, ages 3-5, Little Miss, ages 6-9, Pre-Teen Miss, ages 10-12 and Miss Teen, ages 13-17 yr. old high school junior.

This year, each division will offer a "People's Choice" winner, which is determined by the number of votes collected for each contestant in each age group. A crown will be awarded to the three young divisions and a scholarship to the Teen "People's Choice" winner. A $1.00 donation per vote determines the winner in each category.
The three young divisions have optional categories of competition including "Most Photogenic", "Best Party Dress" and "Best Casualwear". Trophies will be awarded for each category.

The young title holders will partipate in various events throughout the year with Miss Fountain City, including parades, city functions and special events. For more information, call me at 358-0297.

High Heel Boot Camp Recruits Contestants

Last Saturday, ten young ladies participated in the High Heel Boot Camp, sponsored by the Miss Fountain City and Autauga Co. Junior Miss Boards of Director. Guests facilitators included past Miss Alabama contestants and preliminary winners: Sunday Vanderver, Cierra Belser Johnson, Laura McDonald and the current Miss Fountain City, Raquel Martin. Steven Kendrick owner and personal trainer of American All Stars, talked to the girls about health and fitnessThe girls were instructed in on-stage question, interview, modeling techniques, poise, wardrobe selection and platform development. During lunch, the girls were treated to a fashion show, by the Bridal Shop of Prattville. For their registration fee, the girls were also given a complimentary headshot by a local photographer.

Little Shop of Horrors Takes Center Stage

Way Off Broadway Theatre's latest production - Little Shop of Horrors, is scheduled for opening night this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center in Prattville. After a sneak preview, all I can say is "wow"! This is a very energetic, entertaining show that is just this side of "quirky", must like the original! Under the direction of Todd Arron and Stacey Little, the ensemble is the embodiment of the original production. Several great voices shine in the musical numbers, enough to give chills to those who listen.

Tickets are a little more expensive than the usual theatre's offering but worth every penny. This is by far the group's most elaborate set, complete with a giant "Venus Fly Trap" which sports a very nasty attitude. Tickets can be purchased at People's Bank in downtown Prattville during reguarl banking hours. They are priced $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Call the bank for more information at 361-3029. Play dates are: July 26-29, August 3-5 and 10-12. Evening performances begin at 7:30 and Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m.

Little Shop is a little over the top, as it is meant to be played and WOBT does a great job in delivering a quality production. You don't want to miss it.
