Miss Fountain City Sip & See a Success
















Over 60 friends and sponsors came out to wish Miss Fountain City 2007, Raquel Martin, good luck as she goes to compete in the Miss Alabama Pageant the week of June 4th. The event was held at the Prattville Chamber of Commerce. During the festivities, as guests sipped lemonade and enjoyed appetizers, Raquel modeled her competition wardrobe. Special guests included Mayor Jim Byard, Jr., Chamber President - Jeremy Arthur, Miss University of Mobile - Jaye Herrod, Tiny Miss Fountain City - Brelan Fitzpatrick, Teen Miss Fountain City - Samantha Davis, Boo Rogers, Tammy Miller, James Sanders, Patty Vanderwal, Kathy Healy, Kathy Canavan,Anna Marie Mobley,Shannon Mobley and some of the Miss Fountain City Rising Stars - Kimberly Vanderwal, Kristen Vanderwal, Kayla Hull and Macy Thigpen. Also there to lend their support were her parents: Mr. & Mrs. Bob Martin and Raquel's brother Bobby. Raquel used this event to thank the sponsors of the Miss Fountain City Program for furthering the educational opportunities for the young women of Autauga County.

4th of July Plans Announced


Get ready for a star-spangled salute as the City of Prattville gears up for its 6th annual Independence Day Celebration. The day will start out with an old-fashioned family-fun parade. Trikes, Bikes and decorated cars and trucks will parade down Main Street, decorated in red, white and blue. This year's theme is: America - Our past, present and future. The parade line up begins at 8:00 a.m., in front of the Autauga Co. Courthouse. It rolls out at 9:00 a.m. going up Main Street, through downtown, and ends at Stanely-Jensen Stadium. The Lion's Club BBQ kicks off at 10:00 a.m. at Pratt Park, immediately following the parade. Leisure Service will once again host their popular Cardboard Boat Races at Pratt Pool. The spectacular fireworks show will be held later that evening at Stanely-Jensen Stadium. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. with food vendors and live entertainment. Entertainment will be provided by D.J.- Steve Haynes at 5:00 p.m., Preston Frazier at 6:15 p.m. and the Prattville Pops and Community Chorus will present a patriotic program at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin at dark. So, bring your lawn chairs and get ready for a great 4th of July celebration!! Sorry, NO pets will be allowed on the field.

Chocolate Offers A Tempting Night Out

The Young At Art Players are slipping into a few sweet roles as the all youth production of Charlie & The Chocolate Factory opens in Prattville on Thursday, May 25th. Under the direction of Joe Nolin, the 27 member cast is ready for the production and because of the added interest of the play, have already added an extra weekend. So, get your tickets now for Charlie & The Chocolate Factory at the People's Bank & Trust in downtown Prattville (361-3029) during regular banking hours. Tickets ar $8 in advance at $10 at the door. Play dates are: May 25-27, June 1-3 and June 8-10. Evening plays begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m. Visit the city's website at www.prattville.com for more information.

Good Luck Miss Fountain City




During the May 14th City Council meeting, Mayor Jim Byard, Jr. presented Raquel Martin, Miss Fountain City 2007 with a proclamation naming May 22nd as Raquel Martin Day in Prattville. This event coinsides with Martin's Sip & See Reception, which will be hosted later that eveing at the Prattville Chamber of Commerce. The Mayor invited the community to stop by and wish Raquel "good luck", as she leaves for the Miss Alabama Pageant on June 3rd. During the Sip & See, Martin will model her competion wardrobe (sorry guys, no swimsuits!), so that those who can not attend the pageant will get a glimpse of her beautiful gowns. Special invitations were sent to the Miss Fountain City Rising Stars, City Officials and the pageant sponsors. If you would like to stop by to extend your well wishes, the event will be held on May 22nd, 5:00- 6:30 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce, located at 131 N. Court Street, in downtown Prattville.
