Fountain City Arts Festival Named Top 10 Event

The City of Prattville's 2nd annual Fountain City Arts Festival has been named a Top 10 Event for the month of March by the Alabama Bureau of Tourism & Travel. This year has been deemed The Year of Alabama Arts. The festival is set for Saturday, March 31st from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Pratt Park, in downtown Prattville. Admission is free.

Daniel Wallace, a native of Birmingham , has been named this year's festival honoree. Wallace, who currently resides in Chapel Hill, NC, is the author of the novel, Big Fish. The movie, directed by Tim Burton, was filmed in the River Region in 2003 and brought in over $25 million to the tri-county economy. According to Wallace, the fictious town of Ashton, Alabama is actually Wetumpka, Alabama and Prattville, Alabama combined.

A dinner honoring Wallace will be held on Friday, March 30. Plans are currently underway and will be announced at a later date. Seating for the special event will be limited.

The Fountain City Arts Festival will be a fun-filled day of exposure to all art forms. Artists include sculptures, potters, woodcarvers and more. The festival will also highlight various types of music, dance, literature and theatre. There will be something of interest for the entire family.
Wallace will attend the festival and will available for a book signing.

The Fountain City Arts Festival is made possible by grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. The festival is sponsored by The City of Prattville, The Prattville Council for the Creative & Performing Arts and The Prattauga Art Guild.
