Miss Fountain City Visits Prattville Kindergarten
The students of Prattville Kindergarten recently received a special visit by Miss Fountain City 2008, Jaye Herrod. Invited by their teacher, Misty Harris, Jaye served as a guest reader to the students and talked with them about character, as part of her platform, The Pursuit of Character. Herrod read the book, "You Are Special", by Max Lucado, which reinforces the belief that what is important is that a person is beautiful on the inside and that individuals should not worry about what other's think. She answered a lot of questions about her crown and her role as Miss Fountain City. Herrod explained that she was selected to be an ambassador for the City of Prattville and will represent the City at the Miss Alabama Pageant this June. "With this crown comes a lot of responsibility. I was given the opportunity to wear this crown but I will work hard all year to earn it, " she said. Herrod regularly will make appearances throughout the year to speak to churches, schools and civic organizations about "The Pursuit of Character". She will also make numerous appearances for the City of Prattville and the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce. Herrod is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Herrod of Prattville. She is a full-time student at The University of Mobile, where she is pursuing a degree in music. Herrod is the third young lady to wear the crown of Miss Fountain City. Miss Fountain is a preliminary to the Miss Alabama/Miss America system. To read more about this program or Jaye Herrod, visit http://www.missfountaincity.com/.
